What Is The Alpha Angle Freeze Mark?
Examples of Alpha Symbols
The first large "Alpha" symbol indicates the horse's registering organization or the state that the horse resides in. Each letter in the alphabet was developed so that it could not be altered into another letter. Each "Alpha" letter can be assigned to one of eight positions. The larger breed associations are issued an "Alpha" symbol position. The smaller breed association horses, grade horses and mules will be issued a state symbol. The next two stacked symbols represent the last two symbols of the year the horse or mule was foaled. The underlined six symbols represent the registration number for the horses that are issued a breed symbol, or state assigned number for horses that are in smaller breed associations, grade horses and mules.
This represents a registered Paint foaled in 1990, registration number 206999.
Below: The "Angles" represent numbers. By using "Angles" someone cannot change or alter it into another number, such as a 3 into an 8.
